History of National Transport Commission
- 1907 - The National Transport Commission started its first public transport service from Colombo to Chillaw.
- 1940 - The Commissioner of Motor Traffic started a list of lower fares.
- 1958 - Central Transport Board (CTB) was established under which 2500 buses were operated.
- 1968- The route was widened and more services were introduced.
- 1978- Nine Regional Boards established. with that Also implemented lower fares.
- 1979- Failure of regional enterprises invited private sector investment.
